Well here's the exact three step process that I used to turn things around. Step one, find Adwords ads. Step two, include words and phrases from Adwords ads in your title and description tag. Step three, get more clicks. Let's break down each step in detail. First, you need to find Adwords ads for your target keyword or for related keywords. Why? Adwords advertisers spend thousands of dollars on advertising for one main goal. To get clicks. That means that Adwords ads that you see are often the result of hundreds if not thousands of split tests. In other words, when you see an Adwords ad in Google, you know that it's optimized to maximize clicks. In my case, I noticed that most of the Adwords ads for the keyword listbuilding used the words email list or email lists. I also noticed that these same Adwords ads used terms like build, grown and boost.

To view this data, we’re going to head over to the Behaviour section in the Analytics sidebar, then choose Site Content and finally Landing Pages.

We have setup event tracking, where in if the user is clicking on an add, we call it and event and then we record it as a transaction or a conversion in analytics. Based on that analytics data we go ahead and optimize bids. Again we dont look at the avg position. We have seen good EPC’s even in the 4-5 position on adwords.
Analytics automatically recognizes the most popular search engines, and attributes traffic to these sources. Traffic that finds your site through any of the default search engines appears as organic search traffic in your reports. Traffic that finds your site through any search engine not included in this list is considered referral traffic, (not as organic search traffic), in your reports.
Once you have funds to reinvest and you have a very good sense of what’s working ranking-wise, it’s pretty easy to really crank up the content production dial by outsourcing it and publishing content daily.  Once you hit this stage and assuming you don’t do anything stupid, organic traffic should continue growing and growing without too much of your time.
Mobile traffic: In the Groupon experiment mentioned above, Groupon found that both the browser and the device matter for the ability of web analytics to track organic traffic. Although desktops using common browsers saw a smaller impact from the test (10-20 percent), mobile devices saw a 50 percent drop in direct traffic when the site was de-indexed. In short, as mobile users grow, we are likely to see direct traffic rise even more from organic search traffic.

The results showed a 50% drop in direct traffic, clearly demonstrating how all of these other factors come into play during the analytics process.

Crazy right? Let's quickly look at another example. This one comes from a little known German SEO blog. The guy that runs this blog ran an experiment very similar to Rand's. He asked people in several different Google Plus communities to search for his keyword and click on his site. So what happened? His site jumped from number eight to the number one spot in Google. Now you might be wondering what's going on here. As you know, Google wants to show their users the best result for a given keyword. And they determine the best result by looking at things like backlinks, on-page SEO, social shares and more. But as you can see from the two experiments that I just showed you, Google also uses your sites click through rate to determine where you rank on the first page. For example, let's say that you're ranking number three for your target keyword. Pretty cool right? Well, it depends. If for whatever reason your title and description tag doesn't generate the clicks that Google expects, they'll drop you like a stone. And that means less organic traffic for you. That's because this low click through rate tells Google this result isn't a good fit for this keyword.
What this means is that if someone visits a website and is logged into their Google account, the site owner cannot see the search keywords they used to get there. This has resulted in a great deal of organic traffic being incorrectly marked as direct. The same thing happened to Apple iOS 6 users carrying out Google searches through the Safari browser, after the operating system’s privacy settings were changed, as Search Engine Land reports.
